The Vrvana totemvr was announced shortly after Facebook announced that they had bought Oculus VR. The Totem is a VR headset, is being developed by Vrvana out of Canada. The Vrvana Totem VR is a promising alternative to the Oculus Rift.
The TotemVR comes with two cameras mounted on the front of the headset 1080p which allow the user to take a look "through" the glasses in the real world. This is intended for positional tracking , the use of keyboard and possibly augmented reality.
Totem VR headsethas a 1080p OLED display and a 90-degree Field ofnnects using USB and HDMI. Totem has cameras mounted on the front of it, so you can see the room around you which could possibly used for augmented reality.
Vrvana Totem VR launched a Kickstarter campain in hopes to raise a minimum of $500,000. If it succeeds, True Player Gear hopes to ship Totem VR headset by Christmas. True Player Gear says that since Totem VR has hardware acceleration, cameras, and more, “it will cost just a little bit more than Oculus, but nothing outrageous.”
Totem VR Headset has the potential to be a major competitor to the oculus Rift. With an expansion slot on the side of the Totem VR, the possibilities are endless for the Totem VR. Imagine using your Totem VR as Night vision goggles or recording video with its dual cameras. We are going to be keep our eye’s on the Totem VR.
