PlayStation VR is a virtual reality headset which has two high definition screens with a 90-degree field of view. Sony head Andrew House has stated that "Sony is putting a “significant investment” into its PlayStation virtual reality headset".PlayStation VR enables developers to create experiences that deliver a sense of presence - where players feel as though they are physically inside the virtual world of a game.

"Sony is putting a “significant investment” into its PlayStation virtual reality headset".

This new PlayStation VR has a advanced in many ways, mostly in comfort. How a Virtual reality headset feels on your head, will also affect the immersion factor of virtual reality. You wouldn’t want a clunky, cumbersome or heavy, virtual reality headset. PlayStation VR offers the Best comfort out of any virtual reality headset in development. The new PlayStation VR prototype is easier to put on and take off. The new light weight design fits snugly on the users head. The PlayStation VR utilizes a small nob to tighten the VR headset “comfortably”. The headband supports the weight of the unit on the top of your head. Other VR headsets use elastic bands, making it fell “like you have a brick strapped to your face”. There was aslo a major overhaul of the PlayStation VR to make the VR headset lighter. With the PlayStation VR it feels like I’m wearing nothing at all (Ned Flanders in ski pants). But seriously, PlayStation VR is the most comfortable Virtual reality headset.

    New OLED display

Sony has scrapped the 5 inch lcd screen from the last prototype. The new Morpheus prototype comes with 1920 X 1080 OLED display. This helps to make the field of view higher and to lower motion blur. The refresh rate of the Morpheus has also got a boost. The refresh rate on the Morpheus VR headset has gone from 60 Hz to 120 Hz. This new power, alongside the new OLED screen, will help PlayStation VR produce mind blowing visuals.

    Low latency

Everyone knows in the world of virtual reality, latency can make or break you. Latency is what has stopped virtual reality from becoming reality for the past 10 years. If the latency on a virtual reality headset is too high, motion sickness may occur with the user moves his head. The goal of the Morpheus it to keep the latency as low as possible (currently 18ms) To Give the users the best virtual reality experience possible.

    Tracking

Morpheus has seamless integration with PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move and is designed to work with Sony PlayStation 4. Morpheus has added 3 LEDs for a total of 9 LEDs. Inertial sensors built into the head mount unit and PlayStation Camera accurately track 360 degree head orientation and movement so as the player's head rotates, the image of the virtual world rotates naturally and intuitively in real-time.

    PlayStation VR Controls

PlayStation VR has a great control system based on the fact it uses the PlayStation 4 controller Furthermore, in supporting games, the player can use a PlayStation®Move (PS Move) Motion Controller as an object, like a sword.  PlayStation VR will reproduce the player's hands and sword within the game so the player feels like they are physically fighting off enemies with their sword in the virtual world.

    * PlayStation VR is only a prototype and the finished product will differ in look and specs and it will release sometime the first half of 2016
